The Taliban have announced they have seized 70 percent of the border with Tajikistan. A Taliban spokesman said the organization controls up to 70 percent of the border with Tajikistan.
Earlier, the adviser to the President of Afghanistan for national security Hamdullah Mohib said about the difficult situation in the north of the country. The UN said the Taliban had seized 50 out of 370 districts in Afghanistan. The republic hopes that it will not get out of control.
According to Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid, security will be established at the border. He stated that no interference in the affairs of Tajikistan would take place.
The Mujahid did not rule out that the percentage of territories controlled by the Taliban "may increase."
He called on the Afghan government to follow the path of dialogue, since the Taliban forces are capable of attacking in all directions, and the authorities, he said, cannot resist. A member of the radical movement spoke about the seizure of territories in the province of Badakhshan.
The Taliban representative did not rule out the transfer of the city of Mazar-i-Sharif under the control of the Taliban, despite the presence there of consulates and embassies of foreign states.
Mujahid added that members of the radical movement are ready to consider a proposal for inter-Afghan talks in Moscow, if such is the case.
Military action continues against the backdrop of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan by NATO and US forces, which began in April. It was originally planned that all foreign troops would leave the republic by May 1, as suggested by the agreement signed in Qatar in February 2020. Later, US President Joe Biden announced that the withdrawal of American troops is planned to be completed by 9/11.
