African American Democrat Eric Adams Wins New York Mayor

Democratic candidate Eric Adams, a former captain of the New York City Police Department, won the city's mayoral election.
Adams got over 66% of the vote after counting 78% of the ballots. His main rival, Republican Curtis Sliva, has won the support of more than 28% of voters.
According to the campaign statements, Adams is going to appoint a woman police chief of the city.
Also in the plans of the future mayor is the optimization of funding for law enforcement agencies through advanced technologies.
In addition, the new mayor intends to reduce fines for small businesses and close the race gap in the provision of health services.
 
Eric Adams will become the second African American mayor of the most populous city in the United States. The first was David Dinkins, who ruled New York from 1990 to 1993.
 
 
The inauguration of the new mayor is scheduled for January 1, 2022. Adams' predecessor, Bill de Blasio, served as mayor of New York for eight years.
