The Taliban ordered the Afghan people to use only local currency due to the difficult economic situation.

"The Islamic Emirate (the self-name of the political system of the Taliban - ed.) Instructs all citizens, shopkeepers, businessmen to continue to use Afghans in financial transactions and refrain from using foreign currency," a statement published by a Taliban spokesman * Zabihullah Mujahid

EADaily adds that violators will be held accountable.
In early August, Taliban militants *, against the background of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, launched an offensive against the positions of government forces and on August 15 entered the capital of the country - the city of Kabul.
After that, Washington decided to freeze billions of dollars of the Afghan Central Bank located in the United States. The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have also blocked financial assistance to the new Islamic republic's authorities, citing militant human rights violations.
