Thailand did not rule out a second explosion at a chemical plant where 60 tons of chemicals are stored
A second explosion at a chemical plant in a suburb of Bangkok could happen at any time, said Major General Amphon Buarapphon, who is close to the scene, chief of the police headquarters in Thailand's First Region, which includes Samut Prakan and other provinces bordering Bangkok.
The general's statement was broadcast live by Amarin TV.
"The plant still contains a large amount of chemicals, up to 60 tons, which cannot be removed in the context of an ongoing fire. The fire can get close to them at any moment, and a second explosion may occur," the policeman said.
According to various sources, the plant could contain from 60 to 100 tons of chemicals in several warehouses, in one of them the first explosion, which caused a fire, thundered at 03.20.
