Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, said that the recognition of the Russian drug Sputnik V in European countries would go faster if this process was based on the results of its practical use.

In the meantime, officials from the European Medical Agency and the World Health Organization prefer not to notice the obvious - our vaccine protects well against COVID-19.

"The vaccination campaign showed that Sputnik V brilliantly copes with protecting the body from a wide range of coronavirus strains. However, EMA officials and partly WHO do not want to see this," Gunzburg explained in an interview with the Vechernyaya Moskva newspaper.

The scientist recalled that due to the differences in European and Russian legislation, practically not a single Russian medical product has been recognized by the European community. And if you wish, you can "find reasons to find fault" with the Russian vaccine.
The head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, confirmed that the EU has a different approach to the registration of new drugs. "There were questions about the documents, there were no complaints about the product," the minister added.

Russian "Sputnik V" is registered in 70 countries with a population of almost four billion people. In terms of the number of approvals from government regulators, it ranks second in the world.
